We traveled to Villa Savoye, which is a house Le Corbusier designed. It was beautiful on the outside and I love all of the straight clean lines it has His style is modern and is made of mostly white. I loved it all, I have looked at this house in pictures for a long time and it was so nice to see it in person After traveling back we went to this restaurant called, Kong. It had ghost chairs and a interesting design. The food was so expensive like 14 euros for a hamburger, so we ended up sharing at my table!
Some friends and I went to Notre Dame on our own and I have to say that the stained glass was beautiful. It was everywhere and there were so many colors in it. The extra tall ceilings made it even more spacious feeling and just really open. I love these old churches but wish they weren’t so dark inside. I think they should be light and calming to be in. I know it is just another kind of style and it is a very beautiful one, I wouldn’t be able to worship in them though. After Notre Dame we walked to the Musee de Orsay. This museum was one of my favorites. There were sculptures, paintings, architecture, and models all throughout it. My favorite were the apartments, most of them were art nouveau style. Art Nouveau is a organic style with curving lines and a lot of natural materials. This style was a lot more simple then what I have been studying previous to this I really liked it and I felt welcomed and calm when I was in the rooms. I also saw paintings from Van Gogh, and Monet! It was fun to see these paintings that I have studied in school.
Finally we decided to head to the Eiffel Tower, we were so exhausted by this point though. We got there and the line was huge, we stood in line for about one hour. Then we rode an elevator up to the very top. I am glad that I am not afraid of heights. We were taking all sorts of pictures and it was beautiful weather. It was about 10 pm but still light out. Well a storm comes rolling in and before long it was down pouring and blowing. So there was this horizontal rain coming at us on top of the Eiffel Tower, in the mean time the tower is swaying back and forth because of the heavy winds! Everyone started panicking and trying to get to the exit. It was a very eventful night. It took us about an hour and a half to get to the ground because everyone else was needing to get down too. We were so tired so we headed back to the hotel right after that.
