London 07.23.09

Cambridge University, fish and chips, Flea Market, pick picketers, punting, homework….fun day!! We took a train to Cambridge today and had a guided tour. We saw a lot of the colleges and many of the churches there in the main part of town. They have a late gothic style in a lot of their buildings, but it isn’t too overwhelming. It is beautiful and has a lot of character to it. The churches were a lot different, they had beautiful patterns on the wall and were painted in the prettiest colors. Many of the churches had a arts and craft style to them. In fact, I think William Morris himself designed one of them. Our tour guide was the cutest lady, she just lives for the history of that town and she made it even more interesting After the tour and the Fitzwilliams Museum we went for a little Punt Ride. It is down the main river there and it is sort of like a gondola ride. Minus the Italian men who sing to you. They use a 24 foot long pole and push off the bottom of the riverbed to move the boat and they tell you a little bit about the history. We passed by a couple places where harry potter was filmed and the rest of the interesting buildings were the great colleges. It was such a peaceful and calming city. There is the student life there and everything else besides that. People are also extremely nice. After shopping around for a bit we headed back to London by train. We tried to go see the premier of a new brad pitt movie but missed it sadly. So we just passed that and went straight to the apartment flat to work on our patterns that are due in the morning.
