Today was packed with fun and a lot of walking! We went to St, Denis, Centre Pompidou, and The Louvre!! The differences with the cathedrals here and the ones in Italy are they have beautiful stain glass windows everywhere, and flying buttresses usually. The stain glass windows are so colorful and they are usually from floor to ceiling. St. Denis had some great patterns and really made their windows the main focus of the cathedral. Even the floors had interesting patterns and colors.
Now Centre Pompidou was a little different then what we have been seeing previously on this trip. It was very modern and had some pretty crazy things in it. I was really surprised with some of the art that was in it. I loved all of the furniture I saw, there was a lot of iconic pieces from the famous designers I have researched. I have been very excited to see this one because I love the outside. The style is very industrial and has a large red tube on the exterior where the escalator is placed. It felt unreal when I was standing in front of it taking pictures.
The Louvre is a massive museum, if you walked through the whole thing it would be 14 miles long!! The building is old but there were glass pyramids added to the outside later on. The two different styles are a little different, but are beautiful together. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time to see all that we wanted to, but we picked out our favorites. We looked at a lot of French paintings and statues. My favorite was the Mona Lisa of course! My second favorite thing in the inside of the museum were the Neapolitans apartments. The rooms had gorgeous fabrics and had the most fancy chandeliers. They were fun to stand in and just study. After spending 4 hours there we were ready to get a bite to eat. We found this great café that had amazing omelet’s and we also ordered crème brule. Yes it was to die for.
