Free day today so I took advantage of it and slept in. We have been so exhausted so it felt great. Then a group of us went to the pitti palace which was great, we saw how the royal apartments use to look when the buildings were first built and they were very extravagant and beautiful. We took a lot of great pictures and enjoyed sight seeing leisurely. Afterwards we did a lot of shopping and walked around for hours. The temperature was a lot better today and not quite as humid so it felt a lot better! The humidity here is crazy high, but it makes me appreciate how good we have it back home.
Bec, whit, and me were crazy and went back to the same place for dinner again tonight and it was just as delicious. Our server wouldn’t let us leave until our plates were empty and called Beccah abnormal because we said we were going to bed after that. He said, “It’s holiday, no sleep!” Eating out in Italy is a lot different then the U.S., it is more of a social outing then just a place to get a meal. We had to plan on average 2 hours to go to a restaurant. You get your food at the beginning but then they just assume that you won’t want your check for a good hour after you are done eating. Its always a good time though.
I am really going to miss that Restaurant and the workers there! Tomorrow we head to Venice so I am super excited!
Funny story…some of us were wanting to get back to the hotel at a later time then usual at night but we had to make special arrangements with the doorman. Well the doorman on duty tonight spoke no English at all and has a very rough personality! Well I was nominated to try and make him understand what we wanted but without really talking since neither of us could understand each other.. Well one thing led to another and by the end of my basically sign language explanation he got a little upset. He yelled at me in Italian for about two minutes straight and then said again NO ENGLISH!! Well I was a little disturbed and lets just say that we ended up staying in tonight!
