Bastille Day!! We were lucky to be here on this day and we were able to choose what we wanted to do. There is a huge parade in the morning. We went there early hoping to find a place to see, but no luck. There were people for rows and rows. We had trouble even getting out of the metro station to get to where the parade was. So we tried to find a semi-good spot but ended up going back to the hotel. We all were exhausted and fell asleep for a while. I wanted to start seeing things here in Paris, but with it being Bastille day things were closed and there are people everywhere.
We ate Mcdonalds for dinner trying to be a little bit better with the wallet, and then headed to the Eiffel Tower. There was the biggest celebration I had ever seen. There was a concert going on and then a big firework show. The big piece of lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower was crowded to the very back and then all the side streets were full. We went four hours early and found a curb to sit on and we could see the Eiffel Tower good and also the big monitors that showed the concert. We played cards games and enjoyed the atmosphere we were in while waiting for the fireworks. The singer at the concert was good, but a little scary looking! I think I may have damaged my lungs standing out there that long around all of those smokers! I am glad to be back in my hotel room breathing fresher air. I can’t even begin telling you how amazing the fireworks show was. They projected light onto the Eiffel Tower to give the illusion that it was moving. Then they showed a little bit of the countries history by playing out little stories on the tower. I don’t know who designed and engineered it, but it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. They announced that there were one million people that were in the Eiffel Tower Square!!!
